  8.    Welcome to the new look PD section. You'll find quite a few disks on 
  9.   review here. Before we start though, I'd like to say one thing...
  10.  
  11.    Almost all the disks reviewed here can be obtained cheaper elsewhere.
  12.   If you want to order them from TIPD, please feel free but shopping 
  13.   around will almost always get you a better deal. Pick `n` Mix disks 
  14.   are only available from the club though and watch out for a few 
  15.   exclusive club disks in the not too distant future. Once a regular
  16.   and trusted distributor has been found, we'll probably stop selling
  17.   our PD so you can obtain a better deal on TIPD elsewhere...

  21.     Due to a little re-shuffle in suppliers and a quick re-think new

  39.                               THE REVIEWS

  42.       All the disks have been summed up in a sentence and given a mark out of 
  43.      ten. However, BEWARE! A disk which gets 2/1O might just be the ideal
  44.      disk which you've been searching for for years. READ THE FULL REVIEWS!

  48.     TOTAL IRRELEVANCE #1 : DRUM KIT VOLUME ONE
  49.  
  50.      This is the first disk in the TI range and has been put together
  51.     especially for the club. We don't put our name to just anything you
  52.     know and this disk is absolutely JAMMED with drum samples. There's
  53.     44 Bass Drums, 6 Claps, 49 Cymbals, HiHats and Tambourines, 48 Snare
  54.     Drums, and 6 more various effects. That's a total of 153 samples!
  55.     You couldn't fit another one on the disk if you tried. Basically,
  56.     this disk (along with volume two which is already in preparation)
  57.     has all the drum samples you'll ever need. The disk has also been
  58.     optimized so that it will only take seconds to load into OctaMED so
  59.     you don't have to wait for hours until the name of the sample you want
  60.     appears.

  64.     Note : At the moment, you'll probably only find this in TIPD but
  65.            some of the PD libraries may be stocking it by the time you 
  66.            read this.

  70.     ZYDEX 3 by Kenny Dee (2 Disks)
  71.  
  72.      This slideshow/animation is very similar to the Another World/Flashback
  73.     intros which "gamers" have to come to know and love. The two disk
  74.     extravaganza borrows it's storyline from every Science Fiction film 
  75.     known to man (and women) and basically, it's Alien 4 with a few
  76.     surprises to boot.
  77.  
  78.      The actual standard of animation is very good and the artwork is 
  79.     brillient considering the limited palette (16 colour, low res).
  80.  
  81.      The major downfall of this disk is the time it takes to load each
  82.     animation sequence. You're left on a cliffhanger for so long while the
  83.     next bit of the story loads, it's very surprising that you don't fall
  84.     off. It's nearly an anti-climax when you finally see what is actually
  85.     going to happen. A better solution would have been to copy everything
  86.     to RAM: and then played it from there which would have vastly improved
  87.     on loading times.

  89.      All this said, I liked Zynex 3, it was a good animation and the music
  90.     created a mood that suited the storyline. However, it's one of those
  91.     things which you load up a couple of times and say "That's nice" and 
  92.     then never see it again.

  95.     ModSpot, so check it out!

  101.     BLUE ROSE FONTS By Eddie Barry

  103.      If you ever needed loads of different fonts for use with DPaint etc. 
  104.     then this is the disk to get. Each font is very high quality and can be 
  105.     used in any pictures, demos, or video work etc. Expect some TI stuff to 
  106.     feature these disks in the future! This disk got 9O% in May's CU Amiga
  107.     and it's author is a member of MUG! Volumes one and two are both
  108.     available.

  114.     FRIENDS OF PAULA VOLUME ONE VOLUME ONE By The Raven
  115.  
  116.      As promised last issue, a review of "FOP ONE" by Chris "The Raven"
  117.     Wright who just so happens to write the ModSpot column for us here
  118.     at TI. FOP ONE (although not as polished as FOP TWO) contains four
  119.     brillient modules and believe me, both FOP disks are ESSENTIAL if
  120.     you are into MED music in any shape or form. From the upbeat "Raven's
  121.     Theme" (which, incidently, is a favourite of Teijo Kinnunen, the 
  122.     author of MED) to the ballad "Vision Of Love" (my personal favourite).
  123.     The way the disk is presented could have been a lot better but then
  124.     you can't have everything!

  141.      A grossly enlarged pick `n` mix selection this issue. Just a quick 
  142.     explanation. The mark of the left is what the mod achieved in ModSpot.
  143.     NR means not reviewed. If it has a mark, the issue number where it was
  144.     reviewed is given next. Then it's the title of the mod and finally,
  145.     it's size in bytes. If one of your mods on this list says NR on it, it
  146.     doesn`t mean it won't ever be reviewed so watch out just in case!

  291.     modules and where known, the author has always been stated. If you
  292.     have a problem with any of the mods in the library (i.e It is not PD
  293.     or you would like to be credited on your module) PLEASE contact the
  294.     club. If this is the case, your postage will be refunded.

  297.     in the pick and mix library. There's also a prize for the person with
  298.     the most mods in the library before the end of the year.
