============================================
THE TOTAL IRRELEVANCE PUBLIC DOMAIN LIBRARY.
============================================
Welcome to the new look PD section. You'll find quite a few disks on
review here. Before we start though, I'd like to say one thing...
Almost all the disks reviewed here can be obtained cheaper elsewhere.
If you want to order them from TIPD, please feel free but shopping
around will almost always get you a better deal. Pick `n` Mix disks
are only available from the club though and watch out for a few
exclusive club disks in the not too distant future. Once a regular
and trusted distributor has been found, we'll probably stop selling
our PD so you can obtain a better deal on TIPD elsewhere...
NEW PRICES
Due to a little re-shuffle in suppliers and a quick re-think new
disk prices are as follows:
TWO blank disks for every ONE ordered....
or
£1.5O each payable in Sterling, English Stamps, Postal Orders,
or a cheque made payable to "R. Bannister".
I haven't included any forms for buying PD this issue as there are no
special offers to take advantage of this time. Just write me a letter
telling me EXACTLY what you want and with the correct amount of disks/
money.

THE REVIEWS
===========
All the disks have been summed up in a sentence and given a mark out of
ten. However, BEWARE! A disk which gets 2/1O might just be the ideal
disk which you've been searching for for years. READ THE FULL REVIEWS!
TOTAL IRRELEVANCE #1 : DRUM KIT VOLUME ONE
This is the first disk in the TI range and has been put together
especially for the club. We don't put our name to just anything you
know and this disk is absolutely JAMMED with drum samples. There's
44 Bass Drums, 6 Claps, 49 Cymbals, HiHats and Tambourines, 48 Snare
Drums, and 6 more various effects. That's a total of 153 samples!
You couldn't fit another one on the disk if you tried. Basically,
this disk (along with volume two which is already in preparation)
has all the drum samples you'll ever need. The disk has also been
optimized so that it will only take seconds to load into OctaMED so
you don't have to wait for hours until the name of the sample you want
appears.
ESSENTIAL 9/1O
Note : At the moment, you'll probably only find this in TIPD but
some of the PD libraries may be stocking it by the time you
read this.
ZYDEX 3 by Kenny Dee (2 Disks)
This slideshow/animation is very similar to the Another World/Flashback
intros which "gamers" have to come to know and love. The two disk
extravaganza borrows it's storyline from every Science Fiction film
known to man (and women) and basically, it's Alien 4 with a few
surprises to boot.
The actual standard of animation is very good and the artwork is
brillient considering the limited palette (16 colour, low res).
The major downfall of this disk is the time it takes to load each
animation sequence. You're left on a cliffhanger for so long while the
next bit of the story loads, it's very surprising that you don't fall
off. It's nearly an anti-climax when you finally see what is actually
going to happen. A better solution would have been to copy everything
to RAM: and then played it from there which would have vastly improved
on loading times.
All this said, I liked Zynex 3, it was a good animation and the music
created a mood that suited the storyline. However, it's one of those
things which you load up a couple of times and say "That's nice" and
then never see it again.
Incidently, the music from this animation is reviewed in this month's
ModSpot, so check it out!
A GOOD ANIMATION, LET DOWN BY IT'S LOADING TIME. 7/1O
BLUE ROSE FONTS By Eddie Barry
If you ever needed loads of different fonts for use with DPaint etc.
then this is the disk to get. Each font is very high quality and can be
used in any pictures, demos, or video work etc. Expect some TI stuff to
feature these disks in the future! This disk got 9O% in May's CU Amiga
and it's author is a member of MUG! Volumes one and two are both
available.
THE BEST DISKS OF THEIR KIND 8/1O
FRIENDS OF PAULA VOLUME ONE VOLUME ONE By The Raven
As promised last issue, a review of "FOP ONE" by Chris "The Raven"
Wright who just so happens to write the ModSpot column for us here
at TI. FOP ONE (although not as polished as FOP TWO) contains four
brillient modules and believe me, both FOP disks are ESSENTIAL if
you are into MED music in any shape or form. From the upbeat "Raven's
Theme" (which, incidently, is a favourite of Teijo Kinnunen, the
author of MED) to the ballad "Vision Of Love" (my personal favourite).
The way the disk is presented could have been a lot better but then
you can't have everything!
NOT AS GOOD AS FOP2, BUT STILL ESSENTIAL 9/1O
(and he didn't pay me to say any of that!)

= PICK `N` MIX =
= =
================
A grossly enlarged pick `n` mix selection this issue. Just a quick
explanation. The mark of the left is what the mod achieved in ModSpot.
NR means not reviewed. If it has a mark, the issue number where it was
reviewed is given next. Then it's the title of the mod and finally,
it's size in bytes. If one of your mods on this list says NR on it, it
doesn`t mean it won't ever be reviewed so watch out just in case!

All the mods in the Pick `n` Mix library are (as far as we know) PD
modules and where known, the author has always been stated. If you
have a problem with any of the mods in the library (i.e It is not PD
or you would like to be credited on your module) PLEASE contact the
club. If this is the case, your postage will be refunded.
Don't forget, anyone can submit mods to ModSpot and they ALL end up
in the pick and mix library. There's also a prize for the person with
the most mods in the library before the end of the year.
If your mods aren't currently included in the library, have patience!
PEOPLE WHO PLAGARISE ARE NOT WELCOME IN MODSPOT, TI, OR MUG.
